Fashion designer turned artist, in every sense from female inspiration
She paints femininity in dazzling colors, a self-taught, Bali-based artist, Linkan Palenewen gets inspiration mostly by observing modern cultures and real-life events. With a background in fashion design, she combines women’s aesthetics with radiant colors to create enticing feelings for everyone who sees them. Through her art, she creates freedom.
Linkan has been into art for as long as she can remember and no one really encouraged her to take it seriously. She connects with art through boundless curiosity that never really fades away, instead, this curiosity is the seed of this colorful path that she is on right now.
“Life is uncertain, but art is fluid. It's versatile. There are always new things to learn and to explore until I die.”
When we ask about her work, she explains a bit about a new approach to her latest series, “This latest series I did is called "Stigma", and is the exploration of a new form of love: the love of self. This project consists entirely of nude self-portraits, and my hallmark use of neon is now tinged with darker hues.”
Fun facts about Linkan: her daily conversations had been about otters (we love it!), she admires Gustav Klimt (as we do), and she thinks the world needs more of our love to make it a better place.
